The general objective of the project is to enhance the level of social inclusion of persons with disabilities (PWD) in Nikšić by facilitating the local government's process of adopting a new action plan for the protection of PWD. The specific goal of the project is to strengthen the capacities of local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Nikšić to monitor and control the work of local government and increase the level of partnership between NGOs and between NGOs and local government.

The target groups of the project are NGOs in Nikšić that focus on improving the position of PWD and human rights, as well as PWD themselves (through two project activities). The ultimate beneficiaries of the project are PWD living in Nikšić. The project ""Monitoring Local Government with a Focus on the Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities"" aims to improve the position of persons with disabilities (PWD) in Nikšić by facilitating the process of adopting the Local Action Plan (LAP) for the protection of PWD. For over a decade, the Municipality of Nikšić has lacked a valid LAP for the protection of PWD. As an initial step in the process of drafting all strategic documents, we consider it essential to have comprehensive, timely data on the target group. Therefore, this project is designed to first obtain accurate data on the current situation—social inclusion of PWD in the socio-political life of the community through extensive research. Furthermore, we plan to build the capacities of NGOs involved in promoting the rights of PWD. After completing the training and local government monitoring, these NGOs will form a network of organizations that will continue to collaborate and work towards further improving the position of PWD. This network will potentially participate in the development of a new LAP for the protection of PWD and advocate for its full implementation. "
