description

"General Objective:
Contribute to increasing awareness and knowledge of respecting the rights of people with disabilities to accessible built environments, public transport, information and communication, services, and products.

Specific Objectives:
Conduct research on the accessibility of transportation for people with disabilities and raise awareness and knowledge among professionals and the general public about the implementation of accessibility standards in accordance with the provisions of the UN Convention and the Law on the Prohibition of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities.
Target Groups:
People with disabilities

Implementation of this project will involve conducting research on the application of accessibility standards for people with disabilities by bus station services, for which the Ministry of Capital Investments has set a deadline by the end of 2022. The research will also include data collection on the results of the reconstruction project of the Railway Station in Bijelo Polje, for which the Railway Infrastructure of Montenegro has taken responsibility, considering accessibility standards for people with disabilities in accordance with the deadline specified by the Law on Spatial Planning and Construction of Facilities. Accessibility of railway stops in Mojkovac and Kolašin will also be addressed. Additionally, the research will cover the accessibility of bus stations in the northern part of Montenegro, including Berane, Bijelo Polje, Rožaje, Mojkovac, Kolašin, and Pljevlja.
After the research is conducted, the collected data will be processed and published in the form of a study with a circulation of 100 copies, while the electronic version of the study will be posted on the project holder's website for accessibility to people with visual impairments and the broader public of Montenegro.
The project also includes the education of representatives of relevant state and local institutions responsible for the application and supervision of accessibility standards for people with disabilities. This aims to influence the respect for the human rights of people with disabilities in accordance with the provisions of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Law on the Prohibition of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities. Additionally, this project will contribute to improving the knowledge of representatives of passenger transport companies, taxi associations, tour operators, providers of lake and sea cruises, as well as representatives of construction companies, design and architecture bureaus, construction entrepreneurs, and associations of construction engineers and architects."
