description

The project contributes to improving the position of the RE community in the municipality of Berane, which, according to the last census from 2011, consists of 701 persons. It mainly focuses on the education of RE children from two primary schools and three secondary schools, as well as their peers belonging to the majority population, by organizing workshops on human and minority rights, customs and culture of Roma and Egyptians, cultural diversity, eradicating stereotypes, prejudices, stigmatization, discrimination, as well as increasing empathy towards this vulnerable group. Also, teachers, educators, and mediators will be educated about minority rights. The project will also raise awareness among local decision-makers and institutions (preschool institutions, schools, Berane municipal bodies, Center for Social Work, police, and Employment Office). It will contribute to adopting a new Local Action Plan for the RE community to improve inclusion and participation. The main activities include conducting a survey of members of the RE population, 12 workshops for children of preschool and school age and their peers, three workshops for adults, three trainings for teachers, educators, and mediators, and two round tables with representatives of local institutions.
